WHAT IS SUMMIT FOR SOMEONE?
Summit For Someone is an adventure, and a way to give back. It's the primary fundraiser for Big City Mountaineers, a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to enhancing the lives of under-resourced urban teens through weeklong backpacking and canoeing trips in California, Colorado, the Pacific Northwest and the Boundary Waters. In 2008, funds raised by Summit For Someone participants funded 2,500 program days to youth agencies.
Participants choose a guided climb on one of America's marquee peaks, such as Mount Rainier or the Grand Teton, and pledge to raise a minimum amount to support BCM. For more information, visit www.summitforsomeone.org, e-mail brendan@summitforsomeone.org or call 303-271-9200.
Be sure to catch "City to Summit"; an upcoming documentary focused on the Big City Mountaineers and Summit for Someone youth programs. Watch the "City to Summit" movie trailer here.
